01 01 22 :
For almost a month, i don't find too much pleasure in posting images on Listal.
It gradually got boring.
It's time for me to quit (all good things come to an end, that's how it is ...).
I will certainly continue to consult Listal but only for informations concerning films, actors and actresses
(cinema remains and will remain my true passion). I'd like continue to make lists related to the cinema and TV
but...i hesitate (is it still useful?...).
6 years spent here, almost every day, is probably enough.
I wish everyone the best in this short and difficult life, especially :

Foundation review

Posted : 2 years, 12 months ago on 5 December 2021 01:18 (A review of Foundation)

Sorry but I really did not manage to go beyond the 4th episode of this series which I expected so much (probably too much).
I am a fan of the work of Isaac Asimov but the Apple series is constantly weighed down by an erratic storyline and changes too radical for the "old-fashioned" that I am. Why so much insist on the clone emperors Cléon (who cares ?) and whose chatty scenes are a total boredom? Salvor Hardin daughter of ... Gaal Dornick ??? !!! Hari Seldon assassinated and whose holograms from the future manage to converse with the living ??! And so on ...).
Ah yes, it's very beautiful aesthetically and formally but nothing surprising about that given the enormous financial means available to current TV series.
In conclusion, we knew it and we have the confirmation: Asimov's masterpiece is indisputably unsuitable!

The Running Man review

Posted : 3 years ago on 28 November 2021 05:15 (A review of The Running Man)

There is no point in comparing it to Stephen King's novel because it stands out a lot from it. The book combines suspense and drama while Paul Michael "Starsky" Glaser's film is a totally enjoyable and uninhibited B series about the manipulation of the masses.
Pure pleasure bathed in a very ... eighties aesthetic. Just a big (guilty?) fun. With Schwarzie (one of my idols) and the beautiful Maria Conchita Alonso. It cannot be refused!

Prey review

Posted : 3 years, 2 months ago on 18 September 2021 06:12 (A review of Prey)

Really nothing new in this survival. The same plot has been looping in this genre of film for decades. A bit like in the great majority of what is done in current cinema ...

White Plague review

Posted : 3 years, 3 months ago on 29 August 2021 01:58 (A review of White Plague)

Sorry but I stopped reading this novel at the third because, despite its current resonances with the Covid crisis, it does not turn out to be very realistic (a single man, all super molecular biologist that he is, causes the end of the world without us being able to do anything? A somewhat disproportionate revenge...). And above all, the novel is really too long for such a story.

Army of the Dead review

Posted : 3 years, 3 months ago on 14 August 2021 06:48 (A review of Army of the Dead)

Zack Snyder will probably never do worse than this "Army of the Dead". Already in decline since "Superman vs Batman", Snyder accumulates here the worst stereotypes of the genre. It's déjà vu in almost every shot and storyline, non-stop recycling (Snyder is clearly 10 years late).
The casa de papel zombie version? Damn it!
Big popcorn movie barely enhanced by a political subtext that could have been interesting (but Snyder is not Big John Carpenter).
After the already bad "World War Z", the brainwashed mainstream cinema with big budget has struck again!
But where the hell did the great early Zack Snyder go? WTF!

Fantasma review

Posted : 3 years, 3 months ago on 9 August 2021 07:53 (A review of Fantasma)

It starts off pretty well: a 1st part where you can feel the applied and sincere homage to the giallo ("Suspiria" at the top of the reference), beautiful vintage aesthetic, soundtrack in tune, pretty murder scenes, suspense, and we find ourselves thinking of holding the long awaited great neo-giallo there.
Unfortunately, the rest is less breathless cause dragging the film into a somewhat painful gore overbidding and a more agreed upon resolution of the plot.
A semi-success of which we will keep in mind the very correct staging and the beautiful first half.

Lovecraft Country review

Posted : 3 years, 5 months ago on 5 July 2021 06:28 (A review of Lovecraft Country)

Lots of differences between the tv series and the original novel but for once to the advantage of the series. Matt Ruff's tale is totally transfigured by the narrative power brilliantly imaged by various directors.
Tribute to the great Lovecraft and others (R.L. Stevenson ...), evil magic, social commentaries (RIP Georges Floyd), freaking horror moments, parallel worlds ...
The cast is memorable (especially Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Wunmi Mosaku and Jamie Chung: three incredible beauties that radiate our eyes ...).
Obviously, a TV show to see, to enjoy, to understand and ... to review later!

The Woman in the Window review

Posted : 3 years, 6 months ago on 16 May 2021 01:01 (A review of The Woman in the Window)

I think seriously that the great actresses that are Amy Adams, Julianne Moore and Jennifer Jason-Leigh really needed money (probably for paying their taxes...) for accepting to play in that very bad movie which looks like a poor poor poor TV movie to watch with eyes closed a rainy sunday...
Question : has the Covid killed cinema? I mean : inspiration sucks in modern american movies...

Island of Death review

Posted : 3 years, 8 months ago on 7 April 2021 06:27 (A review of Island of Death)

Nasty. Dirty. Vulgar. Indecent. Abject. Bestial. Disturbing. Hell yeah but ...without a doubt a summit of subversion !!! Madness transformed into a film !!!
Is Nico Mastorakis a mental illness?! Probably...
You can go your way or...try?...But don't blame me after, ok?...

The Pit and the Pendulum review

Posted : 3 years, 8 months ago on 29 March 2021 06:28 (A review of The Pit and the Pendulum)

Roger Corman (the "pope of the B series" who here asserts himself as a great "gothic" filmmaker) + Vincent Price (imperial) + Barbara Steele (impeccable in a fairly short role) + the writer Richard Matheson ("I am a legend") who adapts the monumental Edgar Allan Poe: this association of geniuses could only give a great film, and this is the case for this cult "The Pit and the Pendulum" ("The Chamber of Tortures" in french).
More classical you die!

It seems kind of random which lists go from public to private. I can't work it out. Just have to keep going back and making 'em public. And yeah it shits me too.
